The BFS has had much worse periods. From what I remember of Silver Rhapsody, there were years where FantasyCon was practically the only thing the BFS got done.

I can imagine the results of an honest discussion too! The problem is the "Does my bum look big in this?" factor - if you're not polite about someone's work, they think you must have a motive for not being polite. I suppose you could look at it this way - if I come on the forums and say I read Book X and it was rubbish, that should at least provoke its supporters to come out of the woodwork and explain what they liked about it.Stephen Theakerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11394493689032839157noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3285367827446194139.post-91447178935659458932011-10-29T15:48:26.129+01:002011-10-29T15:48:26.129+01:00I like that last idea, Stephen. Mind you, I can just imagine the results. :)
It's a pity the awards have overshadiwed everything else, because, apart from a few personal niggles, I think the BFS has done very well over the last couple of years and its various committee members have worked hard and concientiously. Although I couldn't attend this year, it's good to hear that this year's con was a record breaker - a far cry from some of the poorly attended ones in the not too distant past.David A.
